Book # 5 - 1 of the series of 30 books from The Screech Owls -- kids series of books by Roy MacGregor (Exact book of series offer is not shown)
The series centers around a team of peewee hockey players living in the fictional town of Tamarack, Ontario. Each book, however, incorporates actual events and locations, such as the Quebec Peewee Invitational in Quebec, Canada. and the 1998 Winter Olympics and 2002 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan and Salt Lake City, United States, respectively.
There does not appear to be a clear time line of events in the series. Although MacGregor often refers back to events that occurred in previous books in the series, the static ages of the players and the seemingly never-ending hockey season contradict any definite time line.
The books themselves, all of which are told from the point of view of team captain, Travis Lindsay, provide light action and mystery for the young reader. Terrorists, murderers, kidnappers, ghosts and other improbable anomalies befall the preteen in between, and sometimes during, their hockey games and tournaments.
Roy MacGregor, Hockey Hall Of Fame inductee (2012), named an Officer in the Order of Canada (2005), currently a columnist for the Globe & Mail and author of 44 books, Roy has offered up 5 books for the #ILLBOK 4 #DIFD event and Roy will be at the event to personally autograph them for the winning bidders! We can't thank Roy enough for providing the books, offering up his time, supporting the ILL-B-OK event and helping to raise awareness around the Youth Mental Health issues affecting our children in this country.
